Headphones, gamers and their tastes come in many shapes and styles.

I want something that make me feel immersed in the video game. A headphone with a neutral sound signature doesn't limit you to the idea you are playing a game. A neutral sound brings the video game's world to life.

Open vs Closed

I prefer a closed headphone for the immersion quality. Closed headphones reduce the amount of noise interference from outside the game.

However, closed back headphones can be problematic if you're in a busy household or playing with others. You are more cut off from others. Open headphone may be more beneficial so you are not completely shut off.

Open back cans (headphones) can be a distraction to those around you too so keep that in mind.

Unless IEMs are audiophile high-end (custom IEMs from JH Audio or Shure SE486 ) won't provide anywhere near the detailed sound-stage as an On Ear portable or a Full Size headphone.

Full-sized / on-ear headphones are more comfortable. Full sized or on-ear headphones also connects to the circum-aural or supra-aural design.

For long term game playing, a circum-aural (around the ear) headphone provides a more relaxing and comfortable experience versus a supra-aural (on ear) headphone.

Don't spend money on incredible headphones and complain because you're using some integrated technology from your PC's motherboard.
