For audio purists demanding more from their home audio system, the Saros Europa Fully Differential Tube Headphone Amplifier combines classic analog warmth with modern engineering precision. This two-stage tube amplifier serves dual purposes as both a reference-grade headphone amplifier and a high-fidelity preamplifier, making it an exceptional centerpiece for any audiophile system. With the ability to drive most headphones ranging from 16 Ohms to 300 Ohms, the Europa’s vacuum tube amplification is fit to handle even your toughest cans.
At its core, the Europa employs a sophisticated differential design–fully differential in balanced configurations with ground-lifted operation, and standard differential in single-ended or grounded modes–maintaining perfect signal balance from input to headphone drivers. This isn’t just technical elegance; it’s what allows you to hear space and depth that single-ended designs simply cannot deliver, eliminating noise while increasing dynamic range and revealing spatial information that brings your music to life.
Every aspect of the Europa’s construction reflects an uncompromising commitment to sonic excellence. Hand-assembled with precision by skilled artisans, each amplifier represents a level of craftsmanship that mass production can’t achieve. From five premium Lundahl transformers and Elma stepped attenuators to audiophile-grade VPG Z-Foil resistors and Mundorf capacitors, every component is selected and placed with rigorous quality control. The integration of precision Constant Current Sources (CCS) for both triode stages delivers linearity typically unachievable in tube designs, while allowing fine-tuning of the push-pull configuration for optimal performance. Each unit undergoes a 40-hour burn-in period with meticulously matched CCS settings, ensuring that your Europa Amplifier arrives ready to deliver its full sonic potential from the first listening session.
The Saros Europa Fully Differential Headphone Tube Amplifier represents 20 years of obsessing over what actually makes music connect with your soul instead of just your brain. This isn’t just about analytical detail retrieval–it’s about emotional connection. It uncovers musical territories in familiar recordings you didn’t know existed. This is the revelation moment when you finally hear what's always been there in your music, experiencing what's been missing all along.
Maintained Signal Purity Through Every Stage
The Saros Europa’s signal path is engineered for maximum transparency and minimal distortion. Upon entering the amplifier via a relay-triggered Elma Electronic Inc. Selector Switch mounted on the front panel, the audio signal first encounters a high-line-level input transformer from Lundahl Transformers. This component serves multiple purposes: it steps down the input voltage while increasing current capacity, and effectively filters any DC offset that may be present from the source equipment, protecting downstream components and ensuring a pristine signal foundation.
From the input transformer, the signal passes through a precision Stepped Attenuator from Elma Electronic Inc., allowing for accurate volume control while tracking issues or noise common in potentiometer-based designs. The signal then enters the first gain stage, implemented with 6922 (or equivalent) preamp vacuum tubes configured in a push-pull topology–One triode handling the positive phase and one handling the negative phase of the differential signal. The preamp stage directly drives the powerful 6H30P vacuum tube, which is directly coupled to dedicated output transformers (one for each channel) from Lundahl Transformers. This provides a voltage gain of 15.6 dB, resulting in the ability to drive a variety of full-size headphones to adequate listening levels.
Power Supply
The Europa Tube Amplifier’s power supply is built to reference standards, recognizing that clean, stable power is fundamental to exceptional audio performance. A Lundahl Power Transformer provides high voltage, tube heater voltages, and logic level voltages.
High-voltage rectification is handled by the 6BW4 Vacuum Rectifier Tube, followed by extensive filtering with premium Mundorf Capacitors (both Electrolytic and MKP types). A Lundahl Transformers Choke provides additional filtering and regulation of the B+ power supply, effectively removing AC ripple while maintaining excellent transient response. Low-voltage DC rails are filtered using high-quality Panasonic capacitors. All critical signal level resistors are VPG Ultra High Precision, Z-Foil Audio Resistors, and all other Resistors are from DALE.
Vacuum Tubes
The Europa utilizes carefully selected vacuum tubes, each chosen for specific sonic and electrical characteristics. All tubes are user-replaceable, allowing you to explore different sonic signatures and maintain optimal performance throughout the amplifier's lifetime:
- 2 x 6922 Preamp Tubes
- 2 x 6H30P Driver Tubes
- 1 x 6BW4 Rectifier Tubes
6922 Preamp Tube Current Draw
4 mA (per triode)
6H30P Driver Tube Current Draw
19 mA (per triode)
Craftsmanship & Long-Term Partnership
The difference between the Saros Europa and mass-produced alternatives begins the moment skilled artisans first handle your amplifier's components. Each Europa Tube Amplifier is hand-assembled with astronomical precision—a level of care and attention that automated production lines can’t replicate. Every transformer is positioned for optimal magnetic coupling. Every connection is verified. Every tube socket is inspected. And after it’s all set and done, each Europa unit undergoes a 12-hour burn-in period before shipment. This handcrafted approach allows for rigorous quality control at every stage of construction, ensuring that your amplifier meets standards that simply aren't achievable in high-volume manufacturing.
Long-term serviceability is engineered into every aspect of the Europa’s design. User-replaceable tubes allow you to explore different sonic signatures and maintain peak performance over decades of use, while the modular construction and accessible layout ensure that service and upgrades remain straightforward throughout the amplifier's lifetime. We stand behind every Europa not just with a warranty, but with a commitment to supporting our customers for the long haul—answering questions, providing guidance on tube rolling, and ensuring your amplifier continues to deliver revelation-level performance for years to come.

- JGJose G.Verified ReviewerRated 5 out of 5 stars1 month agoA beast with velvet gloves!
I had the pleasure of auditioning the new Saros Europa headphone amplifier. The amplifier is a beast! Very powerful and dynamic, with just the right hint of warmth from the tube to make it really enjoyable. The floor noise is very quiet even with very efficient headphones, so the music just comes out from a very black background with great detail and 3-dimensional presentation. It is powerful enough to drive most headphones with ease. The only ones that may present a problem are the very hard-to-drive Tungsten or Susvara OG.
If you like the warmth of tubes but also crave detail, this Saros Europa is your ticket!
Highly recommended.
